Hidden in the Light (open) Empty
PostSubject: Hidden in the Light (open)   Hidden in the Light (open) Icon_minitimeSun Jan 20, 2013 7:00 am

How she had gotten here, she could not be sure. A moment ago she was in the Underworld, nearing the brink of insanity as she yearned for a heart to soothe her insatiable desire but now... now there was nothing. The bloodlust was gone, replaced with the simplest of human emotions. For some reason her body, her soul, her heart - they had all been recombined. And it felt good. For as much as she enjoyed the dark power that came with being a Heartless, the responsibility that accompanied that power was exhausting. But that wasn't all that had changed, there was something else, something more. A power, long since lost, had returned to her. The power over image, illusion, deception and disguise. She didn't quite understand it - not yet - but she could feel it, that familiar tinge of energy that coursed through her veins. She felt it, and she liked it.

Stumbling through the cavernous hollows of wherever she had just found herself, Yukina felt as though she were in some kind of maze. Perhaps a labyrinth of some kind, perhaps a test? She couldn't be sure, but for now there was no option but to push forward, for all other directions were blocked with walls of rock. Her clothing had changed, too. The familiar suit she had worn, the one emblazoned with the species of which she once identified, was replaced with a similar form-fitting suit, along with a matching mask of some description dangling from her neck. Strapped to her thigh was a gun, a type of weapon she was familiar with from some time ago, and on her opposite side - on the hip - was a dagger. Her long mess of hair was tied into a ponytail and hung neatly down her back, flicking from side to side with the rhythm of her walk. She wasn't sure exactly where she was going, but for now there was not much choice, forward was the only option.

As she moved, her mind was riddled with thought. There was little that she regretted leaving behind, not even him. He was better off without her, she thought, for while she knew he loved her, he also knew that she was a burden. He was so powerful in that realm, and she so weak. And everyone knew that a powerful man was only as strong as his companion, for as long as she was so vulnerable she would always be a liability. It was better this way, perhaps he would be able to move on, find someone else...

That thought brought her advance to a halt. How could she even begin to think she would be okay with him with some other girl. So that was when a new plan was formed. She would wait, here, growing stronger. Bit by bit, and then she could find her way back. Stronger than even, and a deserving lover. That was what she would do. But for now she couldn't risk him finding her, as he always seemed to do, or anyone else for that matter. So she did what she knew, what she remembered.

The teal hue faded from her hair, leaving it an ivory shade of white. Her skin began to change too, becoming slightly darker, a tanned shade she had never been before. Finally, to ensure that she wouldn't be recognised, she pulled the mask from around her neck and placed it over her eyes. It darkened her immediate surroundings slightly, dulled the light, but she could still see clearly. She caught her reflection in a puddle of water forming from the dripping roof, satisfied that she had altered herself enough to avoid detection.

So now all there was left to do was to find a way out, so her walk continued, albeit at a faster pace. She was sure there must've been more to this world, this dimension, and she was determined to discover it.

PostSubject: Re: Hidden in the Light (open)   Hidden in the Light (open) Icon_minitimeSun Jan 20, 2013 1:50 pm

Entering the labyrinth the reptile felt on the concrete walls the ridges on his fingers memorizing the definition. It wasn't anything particularly special considering all humans had these ridges and it was probable all humanoids had them as well. He didn't particularly know or care for such things. Having wanted to come here originally he had acknowledged to himself that this was a time consuming task and hadn't wanted to potentially get lost in here without having a variety of ways out. Luckily he had explored parts of Diana, Altostratus and MadCross before coming here so he definitely had options of escape if necessary. However, it was unlikely he would even come across anything extraordinary knowing his luck.

Lurking through the halls and making note that there was no particularly way out he had read in the brochure that the walls were ever changing. He wondered if that meant they moved while they were inside of the labyrinth of if they switched every time someone would enter. What if someone was in the labyrinth when a new person entered did this mean that the path became rewritten? A lot of questions on the concept were confusing but he supposed that he would learn through trial and error opposed to studying or preparing beforehand. It made this universe much more interesting and information though experienced although often misunderstood made observations much more personal. Looking around he didn't feel any strange vibrations coming from the wall so he assumed that the paths were stagnant, at least for now. The serpent was curious as to whether or not there would be a notable different when caught in the midst of a change.

After a certain point of exploring the labyrinth it was obvious that there were other footsteps being made and if he could hear theirs then his were obviously being heard as well. Stopping he would check to see if he had been noticed by the continuation of their footsteps of the lack thereof. Luckily he wasn't too deep into the labyrinth or else it would have been darker and even though he had a way around this he wouldn't want to be confronted just yet without knowing the universe or how it worked. Keeping his hands ready to grab onto either his claws or swords he would activate Alveus Oculus, his sclerae becoming black, in order to not get caught too off guard. For the most part labyrinths were supposed to be dangerous. This didn't seem as though it was what he was expecting and was rather underwhelming so far.

Perhaps this being whatever it was would be interesting and hopefully it wouldn't just be Shirou having gone and explored this place himself. To his knowledge Shirou would study before entering and that isn't particularly fun when you're going for an adventure. It was very like him though. He seemed to be rather cautious in regards to the universe until he had a full understanding whereas Etzolix didn't seem to care for any of the rules of regulations that people might have in place. Even though in one of the weakest stages he has ever been in he seemed to be one of the more powerful people. At least that's how it was for now. The reptile was still in search of this universe's elite.

Footsteps. Suddenly the relative silence of the labyrinth was disturbed, and the woman was suddenly aware that was no the only person - or perhaps, only organism - within the winding maze. She stopped then, slowly, silently releasing the gun from it's position at her thigh, holding it slightly in front of her, and at the ready. It felt familiar in her grasp, despite it having been years since she had last used one. She was quite the markswoman back then, defined as a 'gunner' and one of the best, too. But that was a while ago, and she was sure that she would inevitably be at least a little rusty. Nonetheless, a gun was a gun, and a weapon was a weapon. Despite how weak she may have felt, compared to what she once was, she was sure that she was more than capable of handling whatever this cavern held within.

With that out of the way, she began to move again, reassured by the comfort of a weapon. She was light-footed, trying to limit the noise each footstep made, but there was inevitably an echoing sound that accompanied each step. But the same was true for whoever, or whatever else was in the maze with her, and she could tell from the sound of their steps that they were coming closer. She made an effort to steady her breathing, preparing herself for whatever confrontation might occur.

Closer and closer. Nearer and nearer. Yukina retreated to one side of the hallway. She was near a crossroads now, and was sure that whatever was in here with her was down the path to her right. She pressed her back against the wall, making an effort to try and peer around the corner without whatever it was spotting her. Perhaps then she could get the upperhand, get the pre-emptive strike before they even knew what'd hit them.

As soon as she saw him, she whirled back to her hiding place at the wall. Her breathing intensified, something akin to panic setting in. It couldn't be. There had been enough replicas, clones or impostors in her time for her to believe what she saw. Hell, for a lot of the time she herself was the impostor. So, there was only one option.

Magic... or whatever it was, something flowed through her. Into her fingertips and into the gun. She was ready.

The resounding echo of the footsteps that he had heard also seemed to stop. If whatever presence was close enough to notice that his footsteps too had stopped then it was obvious there was going to be an encounter. Whether hostile or not Etzolix wasn't going to go in unprepared. However, he had not yet chosen how he wanted to react to whatever scenario laid before him. Deciding that there was only one option to pursue he cleared his throat and spoke loud enough for his voice to echo in the similar manner the footsteps were. Without Shirou here to be his backup he had to fend for himself and although a completely familiar concept this meant he had to dawn a bit more of his more matured identity. "So we're not alone, are we?" He asked the person where they may be. Still in the middle of his respective hall he was looking forward at the only direction he could go; forward.

Deciding to use the gauntlets he slipped his hands in the metal that embraced it ever so pleasantly. The cold sting was soothing to the reptile as memories of battles previous flooded his mind. His instincts were intact, however, the muscles in this dimension were not as strong nor as fast. Efficient? Probably enough so for it's current state but without the raw power he had previously this little encounter was most likely going to be an extremely interesting or disappointing one. He could only imagine the lingering sensation of boredom that would ensue if there was going to be a nice little meeting with picnics and all that boring stuff. He was tired of the happy meetings and was glad that he was able to adventure like in the old days. Having not even explored for more than a week he had already made a man blind, fought a giant building of a golem and interrogated a man at the top of the roof.

He was sure that this too would shape up to be an interesting encounter. Both gauntlets secure he took a small but notable step forward to see if there was any reaction and wasn't meant for any actual movement. Unfortunately, he could not measure the shadows due to the fact that walls shadows would have covered if anyone was around the end of the hall. His trip forward would be cautious but if there was no immediate response he would move forward and let surprise taking him since he didn't have all day to be a cowardice little bitch. Testing the waters, which was what he was doing, was one thing. Being afraid to move forward in life due to confrontation was the coward's errand.

As he spoke, Yukina frowned. It sounded like him, but it couldn't be really, could it? How could they have both ended up in an alternate dimension, at around the same time? Whatever the case, there was one way to be sure. Etzolix always had a rather particular way of fighting, one that she could recognise anywhere. And even if it was him, he would undoubtedly still be significantly stronger than her. Power like that didn't just disappear overnight, did it? So whatever the case, she wasn't ready to reveal her true identity just yet. Breathing deeply, she pulled the gun up to her chest, preparing herself for the quickly approaching confrontation.

Suddenly, with dizzying speed and precision, she spun out from her hiding place at the corner, gun arm outstretched. Accuracy would always be an issue with such hasty movement, but she was satisfied that it was pointed close enough to his chest area that she would score a hit, provided he didn't move in time. She stepped backwards then, regardless of whether her attack landed or not, holding her gun in her left hand and drawing her dagger into her right. She didn't know if this was the real Etzolix, but if it was, she knew he was accustomed to close range combat. If that were indeed still true, it would be in her best interest to retain a distance, wherever possible, while preparing to strike with the dagger if he got too close. Not wanting to waste precious seconds, she fired another shot at the man, wherever he might've ended up after the first. She was on her toes, bouncing slightly, prepared to bound backwards, to the side or even upwards, depending on whatever her opponent might do next.

PostSubject: Re: Hidden in the Light (open)   Hidden in the Light (open) Icon_minitimeMon Jan 21, 2013 12:24 am

A quick and efficient turn around the corner would have left a normal warrior stunned with the bullet to the chest. As the turn was made Etzolix had moved in the opposite direction towards the wall that she was closest to. As the bullet flew past him the next one that fired would be a closer hit. Had he not had the preparation of the previous bullet it probably would've made direct contact as well but this was still the beginning of the fight so it wasn't too crazy for him to out maneuver these bullets for now. Hopefully there wouldn't be one that shot these consistently. He would have to think much more quickly for that at a capacity that wasn't available to him. As his foot his the wall and the other bullet would make contact with the claw farthest from the wall as it was put in its path. Sure, it stung but it was nowhere near unbearable due to what he had experienced.

The pang of the metal and magic colliding he kicked off the wall and with the same speed he did previously moved onto the ceiling which he would use his other hand to push off of in order to go to the other wall and continue this high speed movement. Being a sitting duck wouldn't help and if he couldn't get close then he would eventually end up losing the battle due to not being able to land a blow on the female that was attacking him. As he took notice of the woman it seemed that there was definitely magic fueling the gun and apparently that's how they worked. His encounter in MadCross led him to that suspicion but it was not finally confirmed. Taking note of her elements she had a pretty peculiar set. Illusion and Space were normally never followed by Water so that did interest him. She also had a synchronization level similar to that of Shirou's so she was probably the default power that this universe brought for the gifted warriors.

A demented smile crossed his face as his path continued having decided to move straight for a little in order to potentially fake her out. The adrenaline and excitement getting to him he began speaking with her for no apparent reason. Not having anyone else to talk to led to him having to utter these things to a stranger, "It's been awhile since I've had to worry about dying." The pleasure in that sentence was palpable. He wondered if this female who shared similar qualities would respond or remained quiet. It would say something about her either way. The reptile also wondered why they were fighting in the first place but he wouldn't let petty logic get in the way of a good time. Even in this new dimension he and Shirou hadn't had the opportunity to fight yet so this would be the first of an actual warrior.

Despite the fact that at the start she already had his Achilles heel he wondered if this was her strong suit. No, there was probably a back up in case someone got close. No one was that inefficient to not give themselves a fighting chance at a certain circumstance. Except maybe Etzolix considering he didn't have long ranged weaponry. With time he would fix that weakness by compensating with whatever magical talent he had.

PostSubject: Re: Hidden in the Light (open)   Hidden in the Light (open) Icon_minitimeMon Jan 21, 2013 1:14 am

His speed and agility seemed to be high, or at least decent. That was consistent with the Etzolix she knew. Perhaps this was him, after all. Time would tell, maybe, so for now she could continue playing with him. If it did turn out to be him, she could have her fun before she let him in on the game. That was the way she liked it, after all. She liked to be in control, always had, always would. He dodged the first bullet, and might as well have the second, as it scraped against his metal gauntlet. She imagined it would've hurt him a little, but it was nothing minor. It wouldn't take him out of the fight, at least. He then began his approach, moving quickly and uttering something about dying with pleasure in his voice. Another piece of evidence suggesting that this was the true Etzolix, he was always a masochist after all.

She simply sighed in response to his words, not wanting to give the game away with her voice, and not trusting herself enough to try and alter the pitch to disguise it. He ran towards her, but didn't try any attacks yet, so she took the opportunity to retreat backwards, running as fast as she could deeper and deeper into the labyrinth. She rounded a corner as it came, taking the opportunity of the turn to twist her body to the side, taking another cheap shot at Etzolix's stomach. He would have to do something soon, for in this universe her speed was at least on par with his, or so it seemed. If she could maintain the distance and just take whatever shot she could, there was no way she could lose. Or so it seemed. She knew Etzolix - the real Etzolix - had a few tricks up his sleeves, spells and the like. She wondered if this one was the same, or if he had been stripped of magic as she had. Whatever the case, she was winning so far, and had to keep up the pace if she wanted it to stay that way. Deeper and deeper into the labyrinth they went.

As she seemed to escape and run deeper into the labyrinth he obviously couldn't let this continue. Her long range tactics would keep her in the lead so as he followed he ended up stopping right before turning the corner. The bullet would then fly through to hit the wall. It was probably shot so that when he turned it would hit his stomach but that was a predictable tact albeit and efficient one. Stopping in his tracks for a moment he had to contemplate a strategy. How would he proceed to shorten the gap? There was portalling but that wouldn't help him if he didn't know the firing rate of the bullets. He needed to make sure that he could at least predict to some extent how they worked so right now he went balls to wall with simplicity. Thinking of a quick scheme he would have to pursue this logically rather than like a brute which is how he had been fighting recently.

Walking right in the area he would wait for her to take aim and then dodge respectively and just stand there making sure she would fire more shots. If things got too crazy he could always run for cover again but that wasn't the initial plan. If he had to take a couple hits in order to figure out the attack patterns of an enemy then so be it. Truthfully, he hadn't been in this big of a disadvantage in awhile and he was enjoying having to formulate some type of reactive play on the spot in order to actually get to the fun part of the fighting. The part where he could actually fight the opposing person. Investments had to be made. Lifting up his eyebrows his facial expression practically personified the phrase, "Shoot me, motherfucker."

He paused before turning the corner, a smart enough tactic, it at least meant that her shot had missed him. She looked over her shoulder to see if he had continued to follow her around the bend, and was taken aback, momentarily, to see he was just standing there. Etzolix may have had masochistic tendencies, may have even appeared to be suicidal when you looked at who he tried to fight sometimes, but he wasn't stupid. He was planning something, she just wasn't sure what quite yet. Cautiously, she stopped, turning to face him. It was kind of like an old Western showdown, each facing each other, neither quite ready to make the first move. She hesitated for a moment, what could he be doing? There was only one way to find out.

She raised the gun again, firing a single shot directly towards his chest. She wanted to see how he would react to that, was he waiting for a shot to try and disable it somehow? She knew how much he enjoyed negation, revelled in cancelling out everyone's magic, but it wouldn't work on the gun. The magic was in the gun, not the bullet, so that couldn't be it. Could he be testing her? Perhaps, but why? From what she knew, it was more his style to just rush the opponent and overwhelm them with his speed and tricks.

She bit her lip then, almost seductively. She was starting to think this truly was him, and even if it wasn't... she had always had a thing for his body anyway.

Swatting the bullet away the reptile's hand stung far more those time merely due to his aggressive tendencies but the pain only made him feel more alive and would quickly subside. He put his hands up in a somewhat shrug like manner that asked whether or not that was the end of her attack. He wanted more. He wanted to see what she was going to do if he was just standing there. What type of fighter was she? There were many reactions that would tell of the type of warrior that she was. If she was going to be a patient one or decide to be passive in her reaction then that would lead to a rather boring personality on her part. Noticing what she was wearing he would too let this help define what was going to happen in the next step of the phase. Her clothes seemed to be for mobility and her mask wasn't typical, probably stemming from a group she might have been a part of or it might have some meaning to her. Regardless, he did notice that she had rather pleasant curves in the right spot. It reminded him of a particularly female he was longing for but he had better not think about that for now and should focus on the combat that would ensue momentarily.

He swatted the bullet away, the metal gauntlet protecting his hand for the most part, or so she imagined. And then he continued in his brave and original action... of doing nothing. She sighed again, she expected more of Etzolix. If this was him. Ugh... how could she find out without having to reveal herself first? Perhaps by going all out offensive, that would force him to actually do something instead of sitting there like a pussy. She pulled the gun up again, a smirk, before she unloaded. As quickly as the gun could fire and cooldown, she fired all five of her active shots at the man, most aimed around his midsection with the last for his head. She would account for movement, if he dodged the first the second would come to his resting place, and so on. Perhaps this was what he was waiting for, for her to finally unleash, and if so then he got his wish. Beneath her mask, her eyes narrowed. It was now or never, if he didn't react now she would teach him a lesson in why it's a bad idea to be complacent when you're fighting a bitch with a gun.

"There we go. A fight is a give and a take not a run and a chase." He said to himself as the bullets were fire the reptile sidestepping and continuing counting down the hall making it effectively harder to dodge the following bullets. Judging by the time lapse and the fact that she had stopped he assumed there was a limit to how many shots she could fire before a cool down time. What was more important was the time between the bullets as well so that he knew when to get out of the way and how much time he had between them. The first shot was easy to avoid, the second? Not so much. Despite getting away for the most part it grazed his arm and he simply wrote it off as a minor flesh wound only a small trickle of blood coming down. The third followed and had the same result with its respective arm, the time lapse being similar in length.

As the fourth came he pretty much assumed there was no getting out of this one easily so he opened up a portal in front of him and then made another five feet away and then continued to do this again the next portal opening up right after the one he exited making him cover the distance of ten feet. The hall wasn't excruciating long but he would have to do this a couple more times before arriving to the female the final portal opening up to the side of her instead of going in the same direction that the previous ones had done. He could have easily made it more sporadic but he chose to make it seem like a linear path for the sake of consistency and deceit. As he exited this one that was beside her a claw would come out and hope to stab her in the hip. Each finger holding a blade ready to pierce rather deeply in order to injure a part of her body that would help prevent her from running at the same speed that had been before. Still having his other hand prepared for retaliation he wasn't particularly worried about anything happening now that he was up close since he felt alive. This was partly because of the bullet and partly so he could actually fight and not have to go on a stupid chase.

Portals. That pretty much confirmed to Yukina that it was him, which brought a wry smile to her lips. He appeared to be weaker, almost as weak as she, with filled her with a sort of sinister delight. Now she could finally hold her own against him, perhaps even beat him. The portals approached her in a line, and she examined each one as they formed and reformed, taking into the account the location of each and more importantly the sound. She knew portals, Etzolix had used portals back there too, and she knew that the tell was always the sound. And there it was, right next to her.

She leapt to the side. A slower being would have been skewered then and there, but her speed was superior to most, as was her agility. However that didn't mean she got away clean, the bladed fingers cut into her waist, causing a yelp of pain as blood was drawn. Still, it wasn't nearly as deep (or as painful) as it could've been, and was no real loss in the scheme of things. Turning to his new spot she fired once more, point blank, right to the chest. It was still dodgeable, sure, but he would be hard pressed to avoid it completely. She followed up the gunshot with a swift stab towards his stomach, she was fast and not to mention strong, a fact she doubted he would've suspected, which brought her a little twisted sense of joy.

It seemed that the female was also an acute fighter having picked up the sound that portals made when they were created and having judged where he would come based on that. Although his attack did land somewhat so he was grateful that he at least had some type of skill around here. Expecting a gunshot point blank he wasn't going to bother trying to avoid it fully and instead would angle himself so that it would hit closer to his shoulder. It would hurt but the bone was strong enough to not have been damaged this time and had he been slightly off it would've hit the super fleshy part that would've been even more of a bitch. His slightly masochistic side kind of wished he took it but then he would feel as though he was betraying Yuki by getting extra aroused. Instead of actually flinching out of pain a slight gasp that said, "oh my fuck this is awesome." would escape his mouth. It was just a gasp but if someone knew Etzolix they could recognize it. As the dagger came towards his stomach he was able to react to it but not like how he did in the old universe.

Sure, he was able to grab her hand in time in order to stop it from completely stabbing him but it still when in about a half inch. His own claws would've made it so that there would've been some gashes on her hands, her knuckles mainly. However, he wasn't going to try to overpower her for she already had the momentum and was apparently strong, stronger than he was physically. As he would slightly jump back and let go he would have already put his other claw away and drawn one of his hook blades and swung it so he would get the back of her shoulder and then hopefully pull her in closer once again. Having only made distance to shorten it.

That gasp. He was enjoying this. She made a mental note of that for later.

Satisfied with both of her attacks connecting to some degree, she was somewhat taken aback when he grabbed her hand, preventing the dagger from making it's full venture into his flesh. She winced as the blades cut into her hand, but they were again just minor wounds, nothing debilitating. She did, however, see him reaching for a sword with his other hand as he let her go, and she was not about to let him slice her head off with that thing. So she reacted quickly, ducking and weaving to the side, moving in towards him at the same time. She was crouched slightly now, so the blade swung harmlessly by her side, while she aimed a jab with her dagger into Etzolix's right knee. If it was succesful, she could pretty much have her way with him from then on. Without mobility, Etzolix was nothing. And even if it wasn't successful, there was no matter, it was only a matter of time.

After the lunge she stepped away, off to the side and raising back up again. She raised the gun up again at that point, another shot - just in case the jab wasn't enough. This one, however, was aimed just above his groin. She didn't want to damage anything down there, after all. But that was more for her sake than his.

As his blade missed he wasn't particularly shocked. Sure, it wasn't what he wanted but she was just as quick as he was and as she pursued the next attack it seemed she went for the Etzolix's knee he decided to play some trippy stuff in order to just make this more interesting. What better way to annoy the female then by creating a portal to where he would be hit making it so that the next one would form underneath the armpit that would be attacking him. This would make it so she would essentially stab herself there and it would hurt quite a bit since the armpit wasn't really that muscley of an area. His other hand had his sword which was luckily a accumulation of a bunch of weapons and as she neared the opposite side that attacked the dagger would have to deal with the thrust of the hilt that also doubled as a blade. This would attack the same shoulder he did previously. She would have to deal with two sides of assault and yeah all that fun stuff.

(gun things will be addressed when it actually happens since I kind of need to know the response/retaliation since I don't wanna control your character)

Edit: Whoa, fucked up. Didn't realize I hadn't made the cost 5.

As he dagger hand disappeared into the void, she knew his plan. It was simple enough, really, to turn her attack back on her. However, Yukina was used to portals. She knew portals. She recognised the sound as it ripped into existence at her right side, and reacted in turn by rolling her body to the left. As she moved her arm was dragged backwards, back through the portal... which remained open. She was on her back now, after the roll, and as she pulled her right arm across her body to try and deflect the pointed hilt of his blade striking her chest, she shoved her left arm, gun and all, back through the open portal and fired at his knee.

His blade dug partway into her chest, just above her breast. She was able to knock it back out and to the side with her dagger by striking the connection of the bladed hilt and the guard, before it went to deep. Into the bone or something like that might've taken her out of the fight, but it was still painful. She gritted her teeth, just hoping that the gun through the portal technique would catch him offguard, hopefully he wouldn't be expecting her to use his tactic back against him... and if it worked, her original plan of disabling his knee would be fulfilled anyway.

As she pulled out her hand and decided to stick her other in Etzolix side stepped to the side where his blade had made contact away from the portal and would attempt to kick her side or some shit while she was focusing on switching. His blade ended up being parried with her dagger but there was at least some contact so he didn't particularly mind. Now on the side of her as she had switched hands he would have to see her reaction to this scenario. Both hands would end up being ready to counter whatever might happen. In one hand there was his gauntlet and the other the hook blade and all that fun shit.

"Hey, I have a friend you might be interested in," he began referring to Shi. Truthfully, he just wanted someone to toughen him up and this woman definitely fit that category. "I'd go for it but I'm already in love with this one chick, no offense." He just started talking. He wasn't trying to distract her or anything but Shirou really needed to be toughened up so that he could find the inspiration to be more powerful. Or perhaps there was enough in this realm since Etzolix was as weak as he was? Regardless, he just wanted this chick to make him not feel like a third wheel when he would eventually find Yukina in this world. She had to be coming, right? "Also, you have white hair and I'm really into blue." He added. He would've shrugged had he the opportunity but against this woman he didn't seem to have the luxury.

The shot had missed, no matter. She withdrew her hand from the portal, it closing up after her as she rolled away from her opponent, quickly finding her feet and staring him down from a distance. She smiled as he mentioned the friend, obviously referring to Shirou. She smiled, perhaps to knowingly for the apparent stranger she was pretending to be. Shi had always been the third wheel honestly, and it aggravated Yukina to no end. All she wanted was some alone time with Etzolix, now and then, but Shi was always there like a lost puppy. Maybe Yukina could threaten some pretty young girl into dating him so they could double date, that might be cute.

She smiled again as Etzolix made the comment about her hair. He had always had a thing for her hair, it was weird really. She wondered what he would think now that she could change it to any colour she wanted, whether or not that would annoy him. But all of this was useless to think about for now, they were still in the middle of a battle, even if they had taken a brief intermission.

She raised her gun, firing two bullets as fast as the weapon allowed. They were aimed at the chest, and as soon as she had fired them she set off down the hall again. Run, turn, shoot. She fired again. Back to the old game.

Blocking the bullets by angling the sword the right way he just stood there with his, "I aint doing this shit face." He then proceeded to say, "We were having fun. Why'd you have to ruin it?" He said sighing. He wasn't a fan of cat and mouse and wouldn't particularly waste his time doing this again. Putting his sword away he picked up his claw again and put that again making it a matching pair of gauntlets on his hands.

She stopped as he spoke, turning her head to the side and smiling.

"Aren't you even going to ask my name?" She teased, in her own, natural voice. He would undoubtedly recognise it, and if he didn't perhaps he was a fake, after all. She began to walk then, rounding a corner into the next hallway, anticipating him to follow her and preparing for her next move when he did.

"N--" Etzolix began instinctively cutting himself off when he realized the person's voice was none other than Yukina's. The curves? They made sense. The instinctive fighting style? It made sense but the hair was wrong. And the elements didn't match up either. He was rather confused and he wasn't completely sure what he was supposed to assume. The person did have Illusion so it was probably a trick. No, that would be too coincidental to use her voice. It had to be her. He supposed with this mouse would have to chase that cat...Boy, did he enjoy that cat. He would try not to be distracted by the oh so similar features, "Yuki? ...What's going on?" Was this really her? He was skeptical but he had some type of hope. It was all he really had.

Yukina smiled at him, putting her weapons back into their respective holder's. She raised her arms up in front of her, in a fighting stance.

"Why don't you come and find out?" She teased, preparing herself for the fight. "No more weapons, let's do this properly, sugar." She said, trying to speak somewhat out of character. She enjoyed toying with him, messing with his head. In truth, there was nothing she liked more, she was something of a control freak... in the best possible way. She liked to have control, to be the master... the last thing on her mind was submission. Well, except for his submission.

Her patterns of speech were different. There were a lot of mixed signals but that could easily be changed if she was purposely trying to hide. But why would she? Was this so that Etzolix wouldn't hold back in the fight? Perhaps that was why they switched to hand to hand combat now so that way he didn't have to worry since these thoughts were planted in his head. These were just assumptions but there was no way this was simply coincidence. He didn't believe in a god but he did believe in circumstance. Walking over towards her he squared up his claws having been put away. He was hoping she was honorable to her word. If not he had already thought of some ideas to get out of the way of the bullet that would potentially come his way. "Oh, I'll come." He said trying to throw her off with a comment that could be taken sexually. That was the main point of the comment, truthfully.

The plan had worked, in the end, he had come to fight her on her terms. Of course, there would be nothing stopping her jamming her dagger into him if the opportunity presented itself - honour was not a concept she was familiar with, nor was it one she concerned herself with. The smiled had disappeared from her face, she was trying to plant a seed of doubt in Etzolix's mind, she had wondered if it were truly him, now he could wonder if it was truly her. Her arms were rigid and defensive in front of her, as she stared deep into his eyes.

"C'mon then," she teased, coaxing him into attacking her first, "I haven't got all day." She was determined to see him on the offensive, the fight so far had considered simply of him responding to her attacks, and she was having no more of it. She wanted to see how he fought in this place, how different it might have been. She was ready to brawl.
